Dear Mountain Families,

As we celebrate Black History Month this February, we want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of this annual observance. Black History Month provides us an opportunity to reflect on the rich contributions and achievements of African Americans throughout history. It is a time to honor the struggles, triumphs, and cultural heritage that have shaped our nation.

Each morning I will highlight an important historical figure in Black History to encourage students to engage in meaningful discussions and activities that promote understanding, respect, and empathy. By learning about influential figures, events, and movements, we encourage our children to appreciate diversity and recognize the values of equality and justice.

Together, let’s foster a deeper understanding of Black history and its significance in our shared journey, inspiring our children to embrace inclusivity and celebrate the strengths that come from different perspectives.

Best,
Megan Tresham, Superintendent
Returning for the 2025-26 School year?
An essential component of determining school staffing and program needs for the upcoming year is the development of an enrollment projection. We must establish an accurate count of students by grade level who will return to attend Mountain School next year.

If you currently live outside of the Mountain Elementary School District or will move out of the district before the fall, you must request an Inter-District Transfer Form from your school district of residence. Inter-District Transfers must be approved annually by both school districts prior to fall enrollment and should be obtained as soon as possible.

Please help us by completing this survey on or before before Friday, February 25, 2025. If you have multiple children enrolled at Mountain, feel free to include them all in one response.

When to Return to School After an Illness
Mountain students have been impacted by two nasty viruses, Norovirus and Influenza. Our goal is to stop the spread of illness to other members of our community and we need your help to do so.

If you child has had symptoms of a respiratory illness (Influenza), they can return when they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine, other symptoms are getting better overall, and they can meaningfully participate in routine activities. Wear a well-fitting mask for five days after returning.

If your child has had symptoms of norovirus (vomiting, diarrhea) you MUST keep your child home for at least 48 hours AFTER symptoms have ended.

For the health and safety of the entire community, please strictly adhere to this guidance. Families who send their students to school when they are still ill or contagious risk getting other students and staff sick. The last thing we want to do is have to close school again!

Feel free to call and check-in if you are uncertain.

If your student needs to stay home we are happy to provide independent study for them.

Thank you for your continued support!
