Dear Mountain Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying the sunshine. The weeks are flying buy. Two more weeks until spring break and nine total of school before summer is here!

The 2025-26 school year will begin on Wednesday, August 13th. The calendar is attached to this message for your reference.

On Friday we are fortunate to have Shakespeare Santa Cruz on campus to perform an adapted version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" for all of our students. We are able to bring these incredible experiences to students thanks to voter approved Prop 28 which earmarks funds for Visual and Performing Arts in schools.

The MESD Board of Trustees approved the 2025-26 school calendar at last week's meeting. The first day of school for students will be Wednesday, August 13. Based on parent and staff feedback, we will be starting a week later this year and will forgo the February ski week. Many parents reported that the Ski Week posed childcare challenges. The ful school year calendar is attached.

3/26: 1st Grade Field Trip to SC Landfill

3/28: Shakespeare SC Performance @11

3/31: Safety and Facilities Committee @ 3:30 via zoom

4/3: School Site Council 3:30 p.m. in PAC

4/7-4/11: Spring Break

An essential component of determining school staffing and program needs for the upcoming year is the development of an enrollment projection. We must establish an accurate count of students by grade level who will return to attend Mountain School next year. 

If you currently live outside of the Mountain Elementary School District or will move out of the district before the fall, you must request an Inter-District Transfer Form from your school district of residence. Inter-District Transfers must be approved annually by both school districts prior to fall enrollment and should be obtained as soon as possible. 

Please help us by completing this survey on or before before Friday, February 25, 2025. If you have multiple children enrolled at Mountain, feel free to include them all in one response.
